Obituary of Robert Milton Gandy

Robert “Bob” Milton Gandy, 82, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 in Mesa, Arizona after a long period of ill health. Born on November 7, 1935 in Orange County, California, the first and only child of Milton and Myrtle Ivy (Thompson) Gandy, he was a longtime resident of Eagle Rock. His final resting place is the early home of his mother who grew up in the Beaumont-Banning area of California. He had only recently relocated to Arizona in late 2016. Bob attended Dahlia St. Elementary and Eagle Rock Jr-Sr. High School. In his early years, he had a paper route, mowed lawns for his neighbors and was employed at a nearby Eagle Rock market as a box boy and stocker. He was an active member of the fraternal organization, DeMolay. After graduating from Eagle Rock Senior High in 1954 with his class, “The Continentals,” he attended Pierce Junior College graduating in 1956 with an associate’s degree in Agriculture. Upon graduation, he went to work in the Los Angeles area for a business called Thalco, selling fiberglass materials and resins to the boating industry for a number of years. Later he went to work for another up and coming distributor of fiberglass and resins called, Erskine-Johns Company. After Erskine-Johns, he worked at BGF Industry until his retirement. Bob dearly loved his pets throughout his life, especially his dog, Molly, who has been left behind. Several different dogs have accompanied him during his years, and all have come from the city pound. In honor of Bob’s passion for animals, you may wish to make a donation to an animal shelter of your choice.
