Obituary of Mary Lu Casey
Mary Lu Casey passed away May 29, 2011 in Yucaipa, Ca, two months shy of her 88th Birthday. Born in Englewood, Co. Mary Lu was the daughter of William K. Cameron and Myrtle Stephens Cameron. Mary Lu graduated from High School in Kemmerer, Wyo., attended Utah Agricultural College and Cal State San Bernardino, receiving her BA in 1970. She completed her education at the University of Denver obtaining her Masters Degree in Library Science, at the age of 49. She became Librarian at the Western Wyoming Community College in Rock Springs, Wyoming, a position she held until her retirement. She retired to Ft. Collins, CO, later moved to Encinitas, CA, and then to Norman, OK for five years. Mary Lu returned to California in 2011 and was living in Yucaipa at the time of her passing.
She was Drum Majorette at Kemmerer High School, leading the marching band. Her father managed the Safeway store in Kemmerer for many years. Mary Lu did modeling in New York in 1943. She was a gifted public speaker, an accomplished pianist and singer; creative writer, and a talented seamstress, sewing most of her daughters' clothing as they were going up. At her 69th Birthday Celebration she surprised everyone with a snappy tap dance routine.
Mary Lu had a quick wit, strong opinions, and a love for her family that never wavered. She loved her new home in Yucaipa and was very happy to once again enjoy that California sunshine. The family expresses a loving thank you to the caring staff at Wildwood Canyon Villa.
Her parents, sisters, Elizabeth and Dorothy and her husband Lt. Col. Vincent E. Casey preceded her in death. She leaves four children, Sean Casey (Katy) of Tucson, Lynn Bogh Baldi of Beaumont, CA, Colin Cameron of Norman, Ok, and Paige Casey (Mark Blecke) of Encinitas, CA, - Grandchildren, Shannon and Megan Casey, Mark and Russ Bogh, Cathy Bogh Coate, Christopher Hawkes, Kevin Cameron, Michael McCready and Allen Blecke. She was also blessed with 10 Step-Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren. Her beloved Nieces and Nephews also survive her.
Services were private. Arrangements handled by Wiefels and Son Mortuary in Banning, CA. Memorial contributions may be made in the name of Mary Lu Casey to the Development Office, CSUSB Library, 5500 University Parkway, San Bernardino California 92407
