Obituary of Ann Wokson

Ann Wokson, nee Ann Feir, born in Bemidji, MN on the 2nd of May 1923, the daughter of Abner E. and Marjorie Larson Feir, passed peacefully away on the 7th of February, 2011 following complications from an automobile accident in Palm Springs, CA, several days prior. A University of Minnesota alumnus and long-time resident of Long Beach, California, Ann also for many years was a highly valued and respected teacher in the Long Beach public schools. It would be a mistake not to mention her advocacy for animal rights, particularly felines, (of which Ann for years has kept as pets in her home), and her support plus dedication to the Palm Springs Animal Shelter. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence N. Wokson, and is survived by her brother (MG Ret) Philip R. Feir and wife Mary of Mc Lean, Virginia: nephew, Col. Philip Thomas Feir, and wife Tara and great nephew Ryan Feir of Boston, Massachusetts; niece Rebecca Feir Wellde and husband Philip, grand nephews Philip, Jr., & Brett Wellde, and grand niece Abby Wellde of Vienna, Virginia; niece Bobbie (Roberta) Marie Feir Fetherston, husband Bryan and grand nephew Ethan and grand niece Emma Fetherston of Miami, Florida. She is also survived by her devoted friend and loving companion, Dennis Lynn, of Palm Springs, California. Funeral service and burial will be held at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, California on the 14th of February, 2011. Ann genuinely touched innumerous lives and will be remembered and missed by her many special friends and loved ones.
