Ann Wokson
1923 - 2011
Condolences
Ann Wokson was a cousin...26 years older than I. She had a very positive influence on me as a boy. I remember our family contact when she was a teacher in Minneapolis and visting her mother Marjorie in Bemidji Minnesota. We alwyas kept in contact with holiday cards and later with phone calls. My parents were very close to Ann and her mother and Ann's husband Larry Wokson. Years later I and my wife and son visited Ann and Marjorie and Larry at their home in Long Beach.
A few years ago I sent a Christmas card to Ann but never recieved a reply. This led me to believe perhaps she was unable to write. I searched her name on the interenet and saw the Obituary. Ann and her brother Phil and Marjorie were the only relatives I know of on my fathers side...besides an uncle from Austin Minnesota.

To the loving family of Ann Feir Wokson, I am seeking your permission to share a private, personal story that includes myself, dear Ann and Lawrence Wokson, as well as yourselves, her family. It's a story that began after WWII, was long dormant from lack of contact with Ann, and now necessitates contacting you for your approval to complete. I am also an educator, as was Ann and for a time, her esteemed brother, Major General Feir, and I have taught English for Booz Allen Hamilton, at San Joaquin Delta College, and in Japan. I apologized for any cloak-and-dagger inferences you may draw, but I can assure you that this is an honest attempt to discretely contact you, Ann's dear family, in an attempt to bring a happy conclusion to my story that Ann, herself, may have brought to life many years ago. Kindly contact me at my email: rstone@deltacollege.edu, my residence: 102 East Mariposa Avenue, Stockton, CA 95204, or my home phone: 209-466-8880. Thank you, Richard Stone
Dearest Ann, I was shocked and so saddened to recently learn of your passing. Your loving and caring ways will be so missed. I recall fondly the many fun times we had in Long Beach and Palm Springs and your kind generosity. You were a pivotal force in my life, especially when I needed a helping hand while a college student, and you deserve to share in any successes I may have had. I so admired your tireless advocacy for abandoned cats and animals in need. Your lovely and regal spirit will live on. Condolences to Ann's family and to Dennis who she adored so. Rest in Peace, dear one. Sue Schoij, Gladys Schoij and Jan Hall
"Mrs. Wokson" was my kindergarten teacher in the early 60s. Who remembers that big foot she held as she recited the poem about our toes? "Tickle is the tall toe, the captain of the crew...."
I am blessed by having had Ann in my life all these years since then; house and cat-sitting on Ocean Boulevard in Long Beach, visiting her in her beautiful home in Palm Springs, and exchanging letters after I moved to Michigan ... the thought of which made her shudder! I will miss her deeply. I am comforted by words in one of her recent letters when she wrote of being in good health and that she had "never been happier". It is a tragedy to lose such a beautiful, good woman in such a senseless way. I will remember her always.
My love to her family and to her dear friend who made her so happy, you are all in my heart and prayers.
Dearest Annie, It is only fitting that you should leave us on this beautiful Valentines Day, as you will always be in our hearts. We will miss your "little" notes and our sweet conversations......always positive and always for the good. Thanks for being such a wonderful neighbor. With love, Bunny and Tony
To A Very Special Lady that graciously shared her freindship with me. Happy Valetines Day you will be the Rose in my heart. Dennis
Merciful God in your boundless compassion console us who mourn and give us faith among things we cannot understand to see in death the gate of eternal life. Dearest Auntie Ann, Life is so tender, so fragile, so very precious. God is our refuge and strength... Psalm 46:1 You are resting in God's loving arms and you are at peace. What a comfort to me... How I will miss our chats, letters and visits. You always thoughtfully remembered me and I enjoyed sharing our special friendship and love-- I will never forget... I will deeply miss you and will always carry your memory!! How blessed I feel to have been your niece. What a wonderful aunt you were to me and great-aunt to my children! Thank you for always being there and for touching my life. How I wish I could be at your side today, Valentine's Day. I thank you for understanding my reasons; I know you know my heart. As tears stream down my face, I ache and say, "Good bye." Please know I am with you in spirit and always will be... With love always, Auntie Ann, Your faithful niece, Becky + & Philip, Philip Jr., Brett and Abby
our dear sweet friend we miss you so much you have always been a ray of sunshine in our lives. you mean the world to my brother and me and my son Jr We miss you. I am so sad and my heart fills and over flows through my eyes that this accident has taken you from us. one of gods angels has gone home and you were just that Mrs Ann a loving beautiful angel.
To Our Auntie Ann, You are one of the strongest, smartest, funniest woman I have ever known! I will always remember your thoughtfulness and sage advice. Every time we look at our wonderful 2 cats, we think of you and how you inspired us to get them at the SPCA! You faced many challenges, but always overcame them with grace, courage, and humor. Even the nurses that cared for you knew they were taking care of one special lady. You are part of America's greatest generation, who knew the value of hard work and sacrifice. Thank you for teaching so many children and helping them to be good citizens. It was always a joy filled experience to chat with you and we already miss our conversations. We could always count on your insights and we always understood that you knew what you were talking about! :) Thank you for sharing all of your stories about growing up in Bemidji, under your Mom's guidance, and with your brother Philip at your side. Those stories inspire us to be the very best people we can be. They also kept us laughing! We are so grateful that you had an angel at your side in Dennis. We hope that we can give to him what he gave to you. We miss you already, but thinking about your being in heaven with Larry brings a smile to our faces. May you be resting with him in the Father's loving arms. With much love, Tara, Tom, and Ryan
