Obituary of Gloria Johnson

Gloria Ann Johnson was born July 10, 1949 to the late Bishop Theron Johnson and Ella West Johnson in Chicago, IL, the third eldest daughter of a Pentecostal Minister. Gloria grew up active in the church, a great singer on her own and in the choir. She taught school in Beaumont and drove the school bus for Banning. Gloria was also a UFL-CIO Union Member in Atlantic City, NJ, and also worked various jobs while building the casinos in Atlantic City. Gloria was and is a woman among women, who looked well to the ways of her household. Strength and honor were her clothing, and she opened her mouth with wisdom. All that knew her were blessed indeed to know her for she spoke straight, preached truth, and was always faithful in all things! As her husband, I blessed her, and praised her for the fear with which she feared and loved our God. She was fun to be around, pleasing to know, satisfying to have known. Many daughters have done virtuously, but my Glo' excelled them all. Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord she shall be praised! For she kept everything on the One and on the move. One of her nicknames is "Double A", and she is and Always Forever will be with me! Jesus is her rock and stay, and her very light of day. Her mouth and soul was forever filled with the words of His teachings. And there was no looking back or going back with her. So her word now and forever to you is "Onward Christian Soldier!" Gloria is survived by her two daughters, Yolanda Callender and Michelle Callender; one son, Edward C. Callender; two brothers, Robert Johnson and Theron Johnson, Jr.; two sisters, Stephanie Johnson and Pamela Johnson Harold; aunts, Minerva Roberta Mack, Bertha Holloway; great-aunt, Mable Adkins; grandchildren include, Mikk, Elleana, Dennell, Bryson, Paris and R'Day: among her nieces, Tina, Brenda, Toni and Minerva. I apologize if I got anything wrong, or left anyone out; for there is a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, family and friends by the dozens.
