Obituary of Dimitri Chapparosa

Dimitri George Chapparosa was born October 26, 1951 to Caroline and George Chapparosa. He passed Friday morning on November 13, 2009 Dimitri was a beloved husband and father. Among those he is survived by his wife of 34 years, Marlene, his children Uriah, Aaron, Andrea, and Dimitri Jr., and grandchildren Giavonna, Francesca, and Gianni. Dimitri had a couple of nicknames; most knew him as "Meat' and his grandchildren called him "Papa Joe". Meat brought so much laughter to everyone. His common phrase was, "time to go to work" which really meant it was time for him to head to casino. Dimitri organized and managed the Southern California Braves Softball Team, a great source of pride for himself and joy to many others. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Meat may be gone, but he certainly isn't forgotten " and never will be. You can shed tears that he is gone, Or you can smile because he lived, you can close your eyes and pray that he will come back, Or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left. Your heart can be empty because you can't see him Or you can be full of the love that you shared, You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday, Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday, You can remember him and only that he is gone Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on, You can cry and close your mind be empty and turn your back, Or you can do what he would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
