Obituary of Florence Tubbs
Florence Opal Jennings Tubbs, 83, went to be with the Lord Aug. 2 in Mobile, AL following a short illness.
Mrs. Tubbs was born Feb. 20, 1926 in Howard County, IA to Henry Joseph Jennings and Margaret Emily Rider Jennings. The family moved to Banning in 1940 where she met and married James Arvol Tubbs in 1943, then graduated from Union High School in 1944.
After her husband's death in 1952 from injuries sustained in WWII, she began working in the medical office of Dr. Nile I. Reeves as bookkeeper and office manager. She worked for him 54 years until retirement.
She was a 50-year member of Banning First Baptist Church. She loved the Lord, cats, flowers, and family. She lived a life of service to others, laboring joyfully and never complaining. She kept her sense of humor until the end.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, Ivan, Clarin, and Leon Jennings; and a sister, Estelene Keller.
She is survived by one son, the Rev. Dr. Dennis L. (Margie) Tubbs, of Mobile, AL.; two grandchildren, Cyndi (Curtis) Wells of Lake Jackson, TX and Duane (Lori) Tubbs of Guthrie, OK; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Arrowood, of Claremore, OK; several nieces and nephews; and a large extended family.
