Obituary of Harold Mathews

Harold Arthur Mathews, 60, passed away on December 2, 2008 in Palm Springs, Ca. He was born on September 24, 1948 in Long Beach, CA. Harold met an married his wife, Dorothy, of 24 years in Elko, NV. Although, Harold resided in many other cities, he was a resident of Banning for 12 years. Harold was a Morongo Fire Dept. volunteer since the age of 17, he also served his country in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam Veteran 1968-1969. He attended college at Mt. San Jacinto College and received Fire Science Degree, as well as, Post Certified Law Enforcement in 1993, and was employed by Federal Forestry, Calif. Dept. of Forestry, and Riverside Fire Dept., within his lifetime, and also received many Service Awards. Harold was was an Indian Health Board Member for San Bernardino/Riverside Counties, and affiliated with the Catholic Church and attended St. Mary's Catholic Church. Harold Mathews is survived by his wife, Dorothy Mathews; daughters, Clara Galindo, Julianne Bodiford, Nancy Lynn Tewawina, Jacqueline Mathews and Jenna Mathews; sons, Jeff Mills, Harold Mathews Jr. and Clifford Wilson Mathews; 15 grandchildren, all from Bnning, CA; God-children Jerry Moore, Micah Morreo, Bow Bullchild Chris Thomas and many family and friends. Harold was preceded in death by his father Clifford R. Mathews Sr.; mother, Doris Mathews; brother, Tom Mathews; daughter, Rissa Mathews; sons Carl Mathews and Steven Duran.
