Obituary of Stephen Grant

A memorial fund has been established on Steve's behalf at the Boys and Girls Clubs of the San Gorgonio Pass. Official Name: The Stephen Grant Memorial Fund Working Name: The 'Every Kid Counts Fund' On Saturday, October 25th from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. there will be a public gathering at the main Boys and Girls Club facility located at the Roosevelt Williams Park on the eastside of Banning. Please join us to celebrate our beloved Steve and learn more about the fund and what it will do for kids in the Pass area. The fund was established to ensure that every young person in the Pass area has a chance to be a 'Kid that Counts' at the Boys and Girls Club regardless of their families' economic status. Through funds raised at its annual event, the fund will provide scholarships throughout the year to low and moderate income kids from the Pass area so they may participate in the Boys and Girls Club and it programs. The fund is established in memory of Stephen Thomas Grant, a Banning resident for most of his life who passed away on October 16, 2008 at the age of 39 years old. Stephen suffered from a debilitating neurological disease which caused him to live most of his adult life with the mental capacity of a child and limited physical capabilities as his body deteriorated day to day. But it was his 'kid-like' innocence that allowed him to enjoy life through a child's eyes and remain optimistic about everything and everyone he encountered. Stephen Grant loved his life as a 'kid' from the Pass, and was living proof that 'Every Kid Counts'. Your contribution to the fund is tax-deductible.
