Obituary of Joy Holden
Joy Mae Holden, 79, passed away April 11, 2008 in Banning, California. She was born on May 28, 2008 in River Rouge, Michigan.
Joy was the first female member of the Sun Lakes Master Board, Founder of the Sun Lakes Mystery Theater and That's Entertainment musical review.
Totally committed to the growth and development of "Her Hospital" San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital.
One of her great sense of achievement was her Baptism at Easter of this year at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, she had never been baptized.
She was thrilled with the accomplishments of her four great granddaughters.
She was asked to serve as a Chaplain at the hospital and was thrilled to be of service to those in need and used her acute sense of humor to good advantage.
Joy had a very special sense of fashion and style and was always appropriately dressed and groomed. For years she served as the emcee for the Annual Fashion Show held at the Catholic Church.
Her great Joy in life was her flashy red mustang convertible and she always regretted the need to trade to a more practical vehicle.
Two years ago she was able to attend the reunion of her 60th graduating class in Detroit, Michigan.
Joy loved participating in theater and was a regular director and actor in productions at Sun Lakes.
She enjoyed traveling and cruises when her health allowed her the opportunity.
Joy is survived by her loving husband Jack; daughters Kathy Teixeira of Beaumont, CA, Shari Cassara of Issaquah, WA; granddaughter Meagan (Raleigh) of Carnation, WA and grandson Tyler Cassara of Issaquah, WA; and four great grandchildren Veronica, Rio, Georgia and Frances Wilson; she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Donald Welch.
