Obituary of Betty Roberts

Betty Jean Roberts was born April 9th, 1937 in Mobile, Alabama. She was the oldest of Fourteen Children and born to Odell Reed and Tom White. Evangelist Betty Roberts formative years were spent in Mobile, Alabama and at 19 years of age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and began her Christian Walk that span over 56 years. At the age of 22, Evangelist Betty Roberts moved to Banning, California where she became a member of Mission Church of God in Christ. While at Mission, she met and later married Raymond Orell Roberts and form their blessed union brought forth three children, Deryl Donnell Roberts, Kelvin Karl Roberts and Michelle Lynette Roberts. In 1970 Evangelist Roberts became the 1st Lady of Holy Temple Church of God in Christ were she faithfully served with her husband and where she was a beacon of God's love to all those whom she came in contact with. As a faithful and diligent servant of Christ, Evangelist Betty Roberts held many positions in the church that included: Pastor's Wife, Evangelist Missionary, Women's Department President and Sunday School Teacher, Church Mother. Her quest for greater spiritual enlightenment made Evangelist Roberts a cornerstone and a vital and intricate part of her church family. As a prayer warrior, Evangelist Roberts would pray with and for those who were hurt and sick, demon possessed with great tenacity and power. The love and generosity that Evangelist Roberts shared with her family and church family and friends exemplified the Godly principles that she displayed on a daily basis. On September 17th, 2013, God decided that his prayer warrior and faithful servant had completed her earthly task and that her reward for such diligent and faithful work was to be with Christ. Evangelist Betty Roberts' legacy will live on through the hearts and minds of all whom she has touched in some special way. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Orell Roberts and her oldest son Deryl Roberts and her sister Sylvia Anderson and her brother Freddie White. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Kelvin Roberts, her daughter, Michele Roberts, William Roberts, Sandra Roberts,. Her grandchildren: Trezure Glover, Tyree Glover and Mone Roberts. Her beloved siblings: Shirley Fowler, Gloria Wigerfall, Annie Roy Porter, Carolyn (Elder Larry Waller) Cynthia Thomas, Linda Shaw, Aldoria Williams, Tom (Shirley) White, Jr., Harold (Shirley) White, Donald (Carolyn) White and Larry White. She also leaves a host of nephews and nieces other family members and her church family that was very dear to her Mission Church COGIC and family members and her church family that was very dear to her Mission Church COGIC and family and friends to numerous to count. Celebration of Life Services for Evangelist Betty Jean Roberts were held Friday, September 27, 2013 at the First Missionary Baptist Church of Banning, Ca. She was laid to rest at San Gorgonio Memorial Park of Banning. Services entrusted to Wiefels and Son Mortuary of Banning.
