Jose Luis "Joe" Arvizu, The year was 1969 and the month was May when a young Jose walked up to this young CBS Television Network employee and said Hi my name is Jose but everybody around here calls me Joe, my response was my name is James Earl and do you prefer Joe or Jose and he said Jose but Joe is ok, I said well everyone insist on referring to me as jimmy but i prefer James. Time passed and Jose and I did not see each other very much or work together much but we did speak whenever we say each other until the fall of 1972 when union negotiations did not go as we had hoped and the company contract was rejected by the membership and we found ourselves on strike. Jose and I was assigned to the same strike detail which resulted in our spending a lot of time together, this eventually led to a very good friendship. Once our strike was over we began to receive many assignments together therefore we began to not only work together on the same shows but we also traveled together for sporting events and some news events, we became very good friends. As I write this note and reflect on mine and Jose's friendship this Biblical Verse keeps coming to mind. PSALM 30:5b: Weeping may endure for a night, but Joy comes in the morning" I am Morning your Death tonight but in the Morning i will have much Joy remembering all of the good time and the many pleasant memories of our friendship. Rest Well My Friend, I am going to miss you!
