Obituary of Leo McManus
Leo was born Dec 8, 1936 in Figarden, Fresno, CA, the son of Leo Joseph McManus and Irma Rosalind Barron and died Nov 8, 2012 at the age of 75.
Leo enlisted in the U.S. Army at age 18 and served in Germany and Korea over seven years of active duty. After returning to civilian life, he was employed as a master welder and pipe fitter applying his skills to both military and commercial products. As well as, R.E. Broker for 29 years.
As a boy Leo grew up in the country and had his first hen and rooster at age 8. In retirement he recreated the country environment that he loved in Cherry Valley, complete with chickens, geese and gardens. He also erected a large workshop to continue the application of his metalworking skills at his leisure. He was an active member with the American Legion, the VFW Color Guard, and a member of the Calvary Chapel Church of Beaumont.
Leo is lovingly remembered by all who knew him as a very kind man with a big heart. He will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, a daughter, two stepdaughters, grandchildren, a sister, a brother, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew.
A memorial service with full Military Honors will be held at the San Gorgonio American Legion Post 428 at
11:00 am on November 16th. The Legion Hall is located at 70 S 1st St in Banning. Leo will be laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery.
