Obituary of Dorothy Lewis

Dorothy Delaine Malone-Lewis was born to W.B. Malone and Floyd H. Crump in Wewoka, Oklahoma on July 15, 1920. Dorothy was later raised by her mother and step father, Albert Williams. She was the second oldest of eight children; the oldest being Prudence Malone, Vitro, Walter, Curtis, Betty, Bob and Edsel Williams. Dorothy grew up and began school in Earlsboro, Oklahoma. She later moved from Oklahoma to Long Beach, California where she continued school and graduated from Long Beach Polytechnic High School. Dorothy met and married Walter Lewis in Los Angeles, California in 1942 and thereafter, gave birth to Dorothy Louise Cannon in 1944. In later years, Dorothy began her career endeavors while attending Los Angeles Trade Technical College. She successfully engaged in an array of careers, such as, Broadcasting, Theater, and Real Estate. Dorothy was known for being well dressed, smart, and the center of attention. She loved life, people, and the spirit of God. Her love for God was expressed for many years as part of the choir with Voices of Victory at Victory Baptist Church in Los Angeles, California. Dorothy spent her retirement years in Madera, California where she continued to practice Real Estate and began a collection of antiquities that excited her joy and excitement. Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory; one daughter, Dorothy Louise Cannon; two grandson, Derrick Cannon and Bryan Backus; one granddaughter, Kimberly Cannon; God Son, Robert (Flip) and wife, Juanita Sims and their family.
