Obituary of Mary Rios

Mary Rios Passed away peacefully at home on October 20, 2007 in the comfort of her favorite room where she spent countless hours in prayer. She was born to Salvador and Fermina (Miranda) Becerra on July 14, 1922 in Tepatitlan, Mexico. She came to the United States at 11 months of age and lived in the Cabazon/Banning area. She attended the Saint Boniface Indian School. Mary was a longtime member of the Precious Blood Catholic Church. She cooked the hot lunches for many years at the Precious Blood School. She was President of the Guadalupanas and Legion of Mary. She belonged to both Carol's Kitchen and Club Latino Organizations. She is survived by her sons Robert Rios of Madras, OR; John Rios of Bend; OR; Ralph Rios of Redlands; Gabriel Rios of Banning, CA and Gilbert Rios of Jamestown, CA. Her daughters Magdalene Sanchez, Cecilia and Isabel Rios of Banning; Genevieve Herring of Cathedral City, CA; and Rita Delgado of Cherry Valley. She had 28 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. Other survivors include her brothers Joe, Frank and David Becerra of Banning; Rudy Becerra of Ensenada; Mexico, George Becerra of Surprise, AZ; Luciano Becerra of Texas and Salvador Becerra Jr. of Redlands. Her sisters Lupe Gonzales of Milpitas; Maggie Berroteran and Carmen Chapparosa of Banning. She was preceded by her husband Joe Rios, son Joe Rios, Jr., and a sister Grace Sanchez. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
