Obituary of Isabel Herrera
Isabel Herrera, 92, passed away on Sept. 10th, 2012, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Isabel was born on May 2nd, 1920, in Pomona, CA, to Frank Carter and Isabel Miguel. She was preceded in death by her parents; and daughters Adeline Isabel Bosworth and Sarah Louise Larkin.
She survived by her daughter Anne F. Robinson. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter
Isabel lived in Palm Springs, Banning & Cathedral City throughout her life. She was a proud member of the Morongo Band of Mission Indians where she was their oldest living Elder. She grew up on the reservation and was proud of her heritage. Isabel held different jobs over the years, but for most she was a loving daycare provider of generations of children who still kept in contact with her. Children were her life and her greatest legacy was her children and grandchildren. She loved to dance and cook, and her tortillas' and many other recipes were famous not only within the family but the neighborhood. Every holiday she would shine as she welcomed her large and always growing family into her home throughout our lives. It was small but somehow we all fit and that was just the way she liked it. Her family getting together was all she needed to be truly happy and she could light up a room with her smile. Her stories and wisdom kept us engaged throughout our lives, and somehow she always knew what to say. She would have told you that her greatest joy was simple Her family and she loved us all uniquely.
Her Rosary is at 7p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21st at Wiefels & Son Memorial Chapel, 50 E. Nicolet St., Banning, CA. Service on 10:00 a.m., Sat., Sept. 22nd at St. Mary's Catholic Church 11231 Mission Rd., Morongo Indian Reservation, Banning, CA, with burial immediately following at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
