Obituary of Joe J. Becerra

Age 91, passed away on February 27, 2018 in Banning, CA. He was born on January 1, 1927 in Cabazon, CA. He attended Banning High School. He served in the U.S. Army as an Automotive Mechanic, expert rifle M-1 and was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal (1945-1946). He retired in 1989 as a Southern Pacific Railroad Laborer after 42 years. He was a member of Morongo's Cattlemen's Assoc. and Morongo Moravian Church, Morongo Indian Reservation. He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening and fishing. He was very kind and generous and will be greatly missed.
Joe is survived by his daughters Joanna (Norman) Ruiz and Virginia (Ronald) Lyons, both of Banning, CA; and Yvonne (Charles) Silvas of San Jacinto, CA; son Joe (Terry) Becerra of Banning, CA; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grand- children and 4 great-great grandchildren; godson Donald Lyons and goddaughter Elizabeth "Chovies" Duran. He was preceded in death by his wife Frances Becerra of Banning, CA; and grandsons Norman "Beatle" Ruiz of Palm Springs, CA and Sean Ruiz of Banning, CA.
Visitation will be on Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 5-7pm at Wiefels & Sons Mortuary in Banning, CA. Funeral Service will be on Friday, March 9, 10am at Morongo Moravian Church followed by graveside service at Morongo Moravian Cemetery.
