Obituary of James Wayne Mapes

James “Jimbo” Mapes, age 74, passed away on December 18, 2017 at his Cherry Valley, CA home with his loving family by his side. He was born on March 25, 1943 in Denver, CO to his parents Ed & Mille Mapes. James served in the United States Air Force attaining the rank of Airmen Second Class. He was an Auto Technician retiring in 2005 after 40 years from Swift Dodge. James was an avid coin collector, Kings Basketball, as well as, NASCAR fan, loved tracing family history and always had a Pepsi in hand. James truly loved his family deeply.

James is survived by his brother, Richard Mapes of Apple Valley, CA; children, Barbara McGrath of Bullhead City, AZ, Eddie Mitchell of CA, Mike Mitchell of Moreno Valley, CA, Paul Mitchell of Sacramento, CA, Wilma Mitchell of Hesperia, CA, Ronnie Mack of Sacramento, CA, Teresa Tariske of Cherry Valley, CA, Diane Lopez of Las Vegas, NV; 22 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren & 17 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years Georgia Mapes; parents, Ed & Millie Mapes; brother, Ed Mapes, Jr.; sister, Gloria Spirlock.

Services are as follows: Visitation, Wed, January 3, 2018, 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm; Funeral Services, Thurs, January 4, 2018 at 11:00 am with burial at 1:31 pm at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, CA.
