Obituary of Theodore J. Miranda

Theodore “Doro” J. Miranda, Sr., age 87 years old passed on December 7, 2017 in Banning, Calif. Born on December 27, 1929 to Tiburcio Miranda & Maria Gonzalez Miranda in Cabazon, Calif. Ted was the youngest of 18 siblings and was raised in Cabazon.

On January 6, 1950 Ted married Margaret “Maggie” Sanchez and they lived in Cabazon and Banning where they raised their family. Ted worked for the California Forestry Dept. as a firefighter in San Jacinto in the early 50’s, later he worked for 41 years and retired from Builders Supply of Palm Springs as a fork lift driver. He was involved with the youth programs Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Little League Baseball while raising his children. His hobbies over the years included woodworking often crafting cabinets and other household items for friends and family and gardening in the Rose garden. After he retired he enjoyed watching the Dodger and Lakers games on TV, telling stories of the past and occupied his time with his Grand-children and Great Grand-children. When he wasn’t doing one of those things he spent a lot of his time as the care-taker and member of the Club Latino Americano in Banning.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years Maggie Miranda whom he truly loved and adored, his 7 children Theodore “Ted” Miranda, Jr. (Karen) - Banning, Ernie Miranda – Hemet, Mike Miranda (Tracy) – Banning, Doreen Reynolds (Robert) - Banning, Mia Miranda – Indio, Randy Miranda – Banning and Chris Miranda – Perris. “Tata” as he was affectionately known to all 28 Grand-children, 42 Great Grand-children and 3 Great Great Grand-children and countless others who knew and loved him. He loved to joke with and tease all the kids to make them smile and laugh. He is preceded by his parents, all 17 siblings, 1 Great Grand-son and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are Sunday, December 17, 2017 – Viewing/Visitation 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Rosary 7:00 p.m. at Club Latino Americano, 401 E. Livingston, Banning. Monday, December 18, 2017 Mass and Services 10:00 a.m. Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church, 157 W. Nicolet St., Banning, burial immediately following at San Gorgonio Memorial Park and reception luncheon at Club Latino Americano. Funeral arrangements handled by Wiefels and Son, 50 E. Nicolet St., Banning.
