Obituary of J P Bates

J P Bates, 90, passed away on October 18, 2017 at Miravilla Care Center of Cherry Valley, CA. J P was born in Collinsville, Alabama to his parents Alvis Earl and Bessie Bell Bates on December 12, 1926. J P attended school in Collinsville, Alabama. Besides being a resident of Collinsville, AL & Cherry Valley, CA, he was also a former resident of Cabazon, CA, Palm Springs, CA, Sky Valley, CA & Banning, CA.

J P was a Landscaper for 33 years. He was also a believer in Christ. J P loved his family very much. He enjoyed dancing, singing and fishing. Even at the final stages of his life, J P could be heard praying and singing his favorite songs.

J P will be best remembered for always having a smile on his face and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

J P is survived by his sons, Glen E. Bates, Sr., Jake P. Bates, Nettie D. Bates, Dana A. Bates, Alfred Lassiter, Kelly Bates & Jan E. Bates; daughter, Rosina Andrade; wife, Marilyn Blacktor; 34 grandchildren, 80 great grandchildren & 22 great-great grandchildren. 

J P was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia “Pat” Bates, and his second wife Guadalupe “Lupe” Calderon; daughters, Dolores Bates and Cynthia Bates; one sister and three brothers.

A Visitation is scheduled on Friday, October 20, 2017 at 10am. Funeral Service will begin at 11:00am both will take place at Wiefels & Son Mortuary of Banning. Burial will immediately follow as Mr. J P Bates will be laid to rest with his wife Patricia “Pat” Bates at San Gorgonio Memorial Park of Banning, CA.
