Condolences
My thoughts and prayers for the family. I got the pleasure of meeting Wayne for the first time on Christmas in 2008 I went to his house with my granddaughter which is his great-daughter Brooke and he made me feel welcome he even bought me a Christmas present that goes to show you what a great man he was. He loved he's great grandkids even though they were far away he was always there for them they love there grandpa Wayne very much and there grandma Diane. They are very sad that they Lost their great grandpa but they have a lot of good memories of him when they tell their stories of Christmas with him and the time he went to McDonald's to see them and all the other times they got to spend with grandpa Wayne there eyes just light up. Thank you Wayne for being there for them. You will surely be missed but never be forgotten.
My thoughts and prayers for the family, and just a note about what a great guy Wayne was to work with.
I always knew that when we got a new supervisors patrol unit , it would be broken in quickly as Wayne would
break in the seat and move it back so us short legs would need blocks to reach the gas, lol
He went to NY and had the book Chain of Evidence autographed by "Victoria" and himself for me.
He will be missed.
Michael Wood, ret. Sgt. OCSD
My condolences to each of you. I know he will be missed. I worked with Wayne off and on for many years at the Sheriff's Department. He was a unique and funny person. I always enjoyed our "sparring".
"He had it his way" We became Sun Lakes Retirement friends - it started when they were buying furniture for their new home - we were driving by and it appeared they needed help to bring in a new piece of furniture so Jac stopped and helped.
We enjoyed a lot of dining out together - they would take us in their big trucks, Wayne's driving also scared me, many different times you would have thought we were on a high speed chase!
Jac & Wayne both liked sports and Dianne and I took up golf together and played several years with L E G S golf club here in Sun Lakes. Jac & Wayne also golfed together. We were involved in a couple of golf trips to Laughlin when Wayne was involved with M A G A.
Thank goodness for all the sports on TV - Jac and Wayne had many discussions about all of it - We miss his calls -
He loved all his family - appreciated all his friends - kept in touch with many!
Dianne has been so important in his life. Wayne has been important to many people during his lifetime.
Now he is in a wonderful place and feels good, seeing those that he loved and have gone before him....
"One of a Kind"
Dianne. We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Wayne. Glenn loved working with him and I know will miss his dear friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
Love Glenn & Donna
Best friends since 1954, I never felt cheated for not having a brother because Wayne filled those shoe only like a brother could. Jan and I were fortunate to also share Wayne family. He was constantly making us aware of their accomplishments to the point it felt like our family. I think we wore out at least one car plus several sets of tires traveling to "Little Wayne's" ball games. He loved his daughters dearly and today I can see Wayne in them. I was best man for three of his weddings. The only marriage that lasted is the one to Dianne and he did that one without me. Dianne was a true soldier caring for Wayne for the last ten years. We will always be grateful to her. I could write a book about "Wayne Adventures" but the reader would think it's fiction. In Wayne's thirty years on the police force he only talked about one of his partners "Michele." Thank you Michele for having such an impact on his life. I will never forget Wayne and I will miss him dearly especially on our birthday June 5.
I'll miss you deeply uncle Wayne, you'll always have a special place in my heart. My prayers go out to my cousins, little Wayne,Margaret, Terry, Kimberly,Mike and their families love you all and May God be with you all!! Love you, Nancy
Uncle Wayne I will always remember you. you always made time to call to ask how Joelle and I were doing after Rob's passing and I will always will remember the 2004 vacation when we came to visit with the boys and the good times we had. you will be greatly missed loved. Love John
Uncle Wayne,
You will be greatly missed. I have always respected you and thought a lot of you, so much so. We named our oldest after you. Robert Wayne. I could always know exactly where you stood on things. There was never any grey, black or white! I loved your laugh and your stories.
I especially loved when you did call to pay your respects for when Robby died. Now you two can swap stories all the time and go fishing too.
Love you Uncle Wayne
Joelle

Dear Diane, Wayne's children & grandchildren,
I am so sorry to hear about Wayne's passing. I didn't know he was ill. I know how close he & Budd were.

So sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in our Lord.epb
Dear Diane & Wayne's children and grandchildren:
Please know how much Wayne will be missed. He was a wonderful friend and the memories I have of him are such happy times. He drove me nuts in the dope detail. He especially drove me nuts when we went to lunch with him driving like a maniac in one of the old Crown Vics with him laughing like a loon because I was scared!!!!!!!!!
We have remained friends even after our time at OCSO. Jim and I left in 1982! The many phone calls and he always sent Christmas cards even though I didn't! Jim and I were lucky enough to stay with Diane and Wayne a few years ago in their pretty home on the golf course for a couple nights.
He called just last week. He was outside the hospital waiting for Diane to be released from her knee replacement surgery riding his scooter around the parking lot. We talked and laughed and promised each other we would talk soon............. Will miss you, my friend. Love, Lynne & Jim
Mike, my husband who passed this last December, worked with Wayne. I also worked at the Sheriff's Office and knew Wayne. I will keep you in his family in my thoughts and prayers to help you all through this very difficult time. God bless you all.
Dewey had a lot of good memories of Carlander. I wish you peace.
Bessie
Dear Carlander family,
We old timers knew Wayne well. He was a unique cop and did things unconventionally. This made Wayne effective and one of a kind. In life you meet few true characters. Wayne was definitely one of them. I loved basketball and he was so proud of his son Wayne. He'd take me and others to see Wayne play. He always ask what I or others thought. Needless to say his son was a great player but if you wanted to have fun with Wayne and watch him explode, all you had to do was tell Wayne that his son was just Okay,
The world will miss Wayne. A friend to many and a true one of a kind.
Retired Inv Chuck Daly
My best 4 months as a cop in 32 years was working with Wayne in fugitive detail. Excellent cop, good guy.
