Obituary of Gilbert Flores Villalpando
Gilbert Flores Villalpando, 73, entered eternal life on May 6, 2016 after a long heroic battle with cancer while being comforted by his wife and children at home. Gilbert was born on July 29, 1942 in Banning, CA. He enjoyed working alongside many great friends as a pressman for 42 years at the Press-Enterprise in Riverside. He relished working around his yard, spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren but he cherished nothing more than being with his wife watching Laker games, walking around Old Town San Diego, taking car rides to Santa Barbara, and sitting at the penny slots together.
Gilbert is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lucy Rivera Villalpando; his 3 sons, Joseph (Tracie), Gabriel, and Gilbert (Christina) Villalpando; his daughter Angela (Terry) Becerra; 4 grandchildren Gabriel, Angel(Cristina), Alina Villalpando, and Hilary (Jorge) Perez; and 6 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his sisters, Hope Rivas, Tina Rivas, Tonia Martinez, Rosie Finney, and Dorothy Guerno, several nephews, nieces, and many loving friends.
Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents Pedro and Marciana Villalpando; brothers, Pete, Amador, Frank, Stephen, and Richard Villalpando; and grandson Landon J. Villalpando.
In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to a local cancer organization.
