Obituary of Shirley A. Wilson

On April 13, 2016 in the quiet hours of the late night, our beloved sister was called to rest. Shirley Anne Wilson was born on October 25, 1956 in Gulf Port, Mississippi to Frankie James Chapman and Elmo Wilson. When Shirley was three years old the family moved to San Pedro, California where she started school. Shirley attended Banning High School in Wilmington and Rubidoux High School in Riverside. After the passing of her mother, Shirley moved to Riverside, CA to live with her Aunt Bettie before returning to the Los Angeles area during her young adult years. She later returned to Riverside where she met Ray Andrews and at age 21 gave birth to her first child, Rayleta. In 1985 she married Emerson Joseph George, III, with whom she has three children, Velvet, Joseph, and Comfort. After many years of caring for her nephew, Larry, she legally adopted him as her son. The family spent many years living in Rubidoux and Moreno Valley, finally settling in Banning, CA where they reside today. Her passions in life included going to the Casino, watching scary movies, camping, eating Lime Shrimp Noodles, chewing ice, supporting the Green Bay Packers, and of course, the Godfather of Soul, James Brown. Shirley was preceded in death by her mother, father, sister Velma Wilson, brothers James Elmo Wilson and Larry Foxworth, and her husband, Emerson. She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Emerson Joseph George IV (Evette) and Larry Wilson; three daughters, Rayleta Lanier Price (Randy), Velvet Monique George (Franklin), and Comfort Tashena George (Josh); three granddaughters, Tanirra Rembert, Trianna Price, and Navaia Skinner; one grandson, Barrin Evan Skinner; one great-grandson, Davion Owens; one sister, Aletheia Lewis (Tommy) of Oxnard, CA; three double-first cousins, Leo Wilson (Becky), Bettie Wilson, Tanya Wilson, all of Riverside, CA; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
