Obituary of Lois Mae Gray
Lois Mae Gray, 88, a California native and long-time resident of Banning, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2015, with family and friends at her bedside. She was a homemaker, Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, and friend to all who touched her life. Lois was also known as Nana by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her passions in life were family, friends, camping, traveling, fishing, bingo, slot machines, holiday decorating, and gift giving. She had served as a volunteer at The Lakes, which was her home for the last 3 plus years. She loved people and helping them in any way she could. Her smile and humor seemed to always light up a room.
Lois was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Gavin Gray. She is survived by her daughter Pamela Newcomb and son-in-law Charles Newcomb of Carlsbad, CA; her son Gary Gray and daughter-in-law Joan Gray of Idyllwild, CA; her grandson Daniel Gray, his wife Margaret Gray, and great-grandchildren Juniper and Gavin of Idyllwild; and grandson Matthew Gray, his wife Lindsay McNicholas, and great-granddaughter Brennan of Denver, CO.
The family would like to thank all of the caregivers at The Lakes and Hospice (Health Essentials) for all of their loving care of our Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother over the past year.
A memorial service will be held at Wiefels and Son Memorial Chapel (50 E Nicolet St. Banning CA) at 10:00 am Tuesday, August 4, 2015. A lunch in celebration of Lois’s life will immediately follow the services. The location will be announced at the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one of two organizations that were important to Lois. The first is an organization that supports research and education for those with Lymphedema. Lois did not have Lymphedema, but she did have friends and family who have been dealing with this little known disease. http://lymphaticnetwork.org/. Second would be to support animals that are in need of medical care in the San Diego area. http://www.sddac.com/donations.asp.
