Obituary of Antonio Eberto
Antonio Carmine Eberto died July 2, 2011, at his home in Banning. He was 90 years old.
Eberto was born July 28, 1920 in Campo Basso, Italy to Carmella and Carlo Eberto. He married Dorothy Eberto on St. Patrick's Day in Ravena, N.Y. They were married 63 years and also resided in Willoughby, Ohio from 1939 to 1972.
While living in Ohio, Eberto worked for Chase Brass and Copper Company, as well as Fisher Body. He was also the owner and operator of John's Café in Willoughby. Eberto served in the U.S. Army during WWII, serving as an M.P., nurse and earning the rank of sergeant. He fought in Europe in the Battle of the Bulge, battle of Normandy and was there for the victory in Europe. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal. He was honorable discharged in 1947.
Eberto was a member the American Legion, Ohio and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1500 of Ohio. He was awarded trophies for his sponsorship of local baseball teams. He was a member of Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Church.
Eberto was a loving, self-sacrificing father who devoted himself to his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Eberto was preceded in death by his parents Carmella and Carlo Eberto, his brother Michael Eberto, his sisters Eleanor Eberto and Giovanni Eberto, his sons Antonio Eberto, John Eberto and Michael Eberto, and his daughters Carmie Eberto and Maria Dolores Coon. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Eberto of Banning; his daughter and her husband Ann Maria and Terrence A. McFarland of Antelope Valley, Calif; his daughter and her husband Antonia and Dennis Amaral of Pilot Hill, Calif.; his daughter and her husband, Antonia and Dennis Amaral of Pilot Hill, Calif.; his grandchildren Catherine McFarland of San Diego, Calif., Terry Anthony McFarland of Afghanistan, Amber Cunningham, Carmie Kua, Joseph Cano, Ashley Compton, Gina Cano, Alex Cano and Jacob Cano, all of Pilot Hill, Calif., Tony Miller and Crystal Richardson; his great-grandchildren Brielle Compton of Pilot Hill, Calif., Nathan Blackstone and Ethan Cunningham, of Foothill Ranch, Calif., Kiana Kua, Gabriel Zavala, Kaimana Kua, Malia Kua and Kamale Kua, all of La Quinta, Calif., Devin Richardson, Dilyan Richardson, Dakota Richardson, Derek Richardson, Dustin Richardson, Daniel Richardson, Owen Miller, Stella Miller, Kate Miller and Claire Miller; his sisters Cora Topazio, Maria Dinonno and Lucia Eberto.
