One of the last times I saw Mary, or Little Mary as she was called here in Cabazon was at church a few weeks before she was injured. We were all glad to see her there. She looked so good, and she gave such a great testimony, thanking God for everything. She moved us all with her honest and pure testimony. She is terribly missed here. Little Mary was, it seemed, a permanent "fixture" in our community. She could almost always be seen strolling down the street listening to her headset, smiling and bouncing along seemingly without a care in the world. Or perhaps we would see her at the Community Center sharing lunch with the other Cabazon folks. Nice days would see her hanging out near the Country Store, just enjoying the days. She was almost always with Manny. Most of our little community are saddened by her loss. I know that it will be a very long time before I drive through town and see someone walking and not think oh, there goes Little Mary. She had many family members, friends and acquaintances, she touched many lives. She was a "fixture" in this community along with being a mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Her life mattered and her presence will be greatly missed. I find comfort in believing that she is at peace now and with Jesus, strolling down the streets of gold, listening to the heavenly music, happy as a little lamb.
