Suki was my mom's big sister and hero, and so she named me after her (except I am Suzie rather than Suki - we are both Suzanne). Some of my earliest memories are about Suki - visiting her in Atlanta, the costume she made me that I wore to Mardi Gras and Halloween, the scary faces she could make, her artwork, and her wonderful (and sometimes scary) stories (remember the spider in the toilet story - I am still afraid of spiders). I was lucky to share a friendship with Suki as I grew older, and always enjoyed spending time with her - playing cards, writing silly skits and songs, suing one another over the rights to the InstaShuffle, surprising her when she visited my folks, having her (and Toni and Pat) surprise my parents at their 50th anniversary party, going to Alaska with her and my folks in 2001, and having a quiet memorial for Rip on Resurrection Bay while we were there. In the past year and a half I got to spend time with Suki on three occasions - In November of 2009, she flew out to visit my folks and I flew in and surprised her, then March of 2010, when I flew out to CA to help her celebrate her 86th birthday and we took our road trip down to LA, and then New Year's Eve of 2010, when Jan and I, Mark and Tina, and Audrey and Bob got to spend a few hours with her. In all but the last visit we played cards and she was as sharp as ever in her card playing. She will be missed. It is the end of an era in the Archibald family.
