Obituary of George Brantner
Passed away on Friday, December 24, 2010. He was born on August 14, 1935 in Parma, Ohio, the youngest and sixth child of James and Louise Brantner.
George was raised in Ohio. While serving two years in the Army, he met his wife, Joan, in Colorado Springs. They raised their growing family in Garden Grove, California, where they lived for 41 years. After retiring as a salesman for wood products, they moved to Cherry Valley, California in 2001.
Besides Joan, his wife of 50 years, he is survived by his children Maria (Vince Gurzi), John (Laura), Mark (Amber), Michele (Albert Hu), Scott (Cheryl) and their families including 14 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He was greeted in heaven by his son James and daughter Julia.
Worship of the Lord and devotion to his family and country were his life. Sports, especially golf and playing with the Wild Bunch, were his pleasures. He also enjoyed watching his favorite football team, Ohio State. Among his favorite activities were horse racing, bingo, impersonating Elvis at karaoke, cruises and camping.
George was strong-willed, brave, kind and gentle. His unique sense of humor will always be remembered
Services will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church in Beaumont at 11:30 a.m. Following the services, a reception will be held in the clubhouse at Highland Springs Country Club in Cherry Valley.
