Obituary of John Cabrera

John David Cabrera, retired, age 81, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa died at home on Thursday, September 7, 2006, ending his courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 9, 1925, in Pontiac, Michigan. He served in the United States Navy during WW II 1944-1946. While serving our country he earned a Purple Heart and bronze star. After the service, he began a career at Ford Motor Company where he retired in 1977 and then moved to Southern California. John lived a full life and is survived by his four children: his daughters and their husbands, Linda & Richard Royall and Beatrice & Dave Benedict; his sons, John Cabrera and Andrew & Vicki Cabrera; 12 grandchildren: David, Elizabeth, Deborah, Michelle, Denise, Cathy, Renee, Deanna, Donna, April, Danielle and Maryanne; 13 great-grandchildren: Tamara, Dina, Ashlee, Taylor, Autumn, Andrew, Kate, Austin, Jada, Sean, Amelia, Autumn (Co) and Ava. He is further survived by his brother Richard Ayala, niece Grace Cancel and other relatives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the mother and grandma of his children and grandchildren, Amelia Cabrera, his sister Rosemary Angel and his granddaughter Dana. We would like to thank all of the oncology staff at Loma Linda Medical Center, the 9200 staff and Vitas Hospice for their care and support.
