Obituary of Mary Covington

94, passed away at The Lakes in Banning. Isabel was born and raised in Beaumont and was a member of the first Sunday School Class of the Beaumont Episcopal Church there. She attended business school after graduating from Beaumont High School and used these skills in the early years of the Covington Construction business, keeping the business accounts and taking on its secretarial duties. It was during this time that she joined the Soroptimists. In addition to her role as wife and mother of four, she worked with the Girl Scout leadership for 35 years, helping to organize and run their summer camps, and was the Hemmerling Elementary School volunteer of the Year in 1998. Leonard and Isabel donated the Covington Park to the city of Morongo Valley in the late 1950's. Isabel is survived by her daughters, Dorothy Bowen of Banning, CA and Janet Bass of Pittsburg, PA; sons, Larry Covington of Banning, CA and Gerald Covington of Medford, OR; nine grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 ½ years, James Leonard Covington of Banning, CA. Memorial Services for Isabel will be held at The Lakes, 5801 Sun Lakes Blvd Banning, CA on January 4, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to Wiefels & Son Mortuary, Banning.
