Obituary of Josephine Mediano

Josephine, known as Chepa by friends and family, entered eternal rest peacefully on March 2, 2012 at her residence in Banning, CA surrounded by her loved ones. Chepa had recently been diagnosed with colon cancer. Born in Santa Rita, New Mexico on May 25, 1925 to Severiano and Rosario T. Mediano, she was the fifth of seven children. Chepa was raised in the loving care of her parents and siblings throughout her life. She relocated from New Mexico to the desert area with her family in 1945 and lived there most of her life. She was a dutiful daughter and caring sister. In her younger years, she enjoyed listening and dancing to Mexican music at family gatherings. Chepa will be remembered most for her playful nature and boisterous laugh. Chepa was preceded in death by her parents; four older brothers, Nestor, Enrique (Angelita), Meliton and Alberto Mediano, and her only sister Felicitas Arreola. Chepa is survived by her devoted brother Adolfo T. Mediano and his wife Consuelo of Banning, CA; sister in law, Clara Mediano of Palm Springs, CA; brother in law Abraham Arreola of Hacienda Heights; numerous nephews and nieces; great nephews and nieces; and great great nephews and nieces.
